Parish Day School hosts annual CHKD Trike-a-Thon

This month Parish Day School is excited to be hosting our annual Children's Hospital of King's Daughters Trike-a-Thon. Last year we hosted this event virtually, so we are thrilled to be able to do it outside together this year. We have hosted this event for the past 8 years and have been able to raise over $16,000 for CHKD. We are thankful for the opportunity to continue this tradition of helping CHKD, as they provide much needed services to so many of our families.

This week our students will be learning about CHKD and how they can help. We share this video with our families and teachers to help educate them of the all the things that CHKD does for our community. Many of our current students have been treated at a CHKD facility. Our students ride to honor the memory of one former student, Kristen, who was lovingly cared for by CHKD doctors and nurses when she was four-years-old.

We take this opportunity to teach our preschoolers about bicycle safety and review the rules of the road. Wearing a helmet and learning how to stay safe are a top priority. We have been blessed by the Virginia Beach Police Department with an annual visit from an officer who brings his police bicycle and shows the children how to stay safe.

Parish Day School families, please don't forget to bring your child's tricycle or bicycle to school on their assigned day to ride, along with your child's helmet. We will have a designated area to park your child's bicycle and helmet at the front of the parking loop when you drop off that day. Don't forget to label the bicycle and helmet with your child's name.

We hope you will consider making a donation in someone's honor or memory as we ride for the children who are in the hospital. All of the money raised will go to the Child Life program. Click on our TeamCHKD website to make a donation!

Together, we can make a difference!
